The day of reckoning! The German delegates, in the
chair in front of Clemenceau, sign the Versailles Peace Treaty.
To Clemenceau's right is Wilson and to his left is Lloyd George.

The "Bund Oberland," one of several right-wing paramilitary
groups in Bavaria. Their symbol was a red flag with a black swastika
in a white circle. When Hitler designed the flag for the Nazi
Party, it was identical to this flag except that he turned the
swastika 45 degrees.

Stalin never downplayed Lenin but promoted the concept
that he, Stalin, was Lenin's closest confidant. This drawing
is typical of such works during the Stalinist era. Note that
Lenin has a halo of light around his head - Lenin was regularly
displayed in this saintly manner in art and movies in Stalinist
Russia. And Stalin was regularly portrayed as Lenin's protege
and was usually depicted several inches taller than Lenin. |
